Plan to turn old garages into new council houses

NEW council houses are being planned in a more than £5 million project to transform a fire-hit and vandalised city area.
Nottingham City Council is planning to tear down 54 garages behind the Colston Road and Austin Street flats in Bulwell.
The city council wants to replace them with a four-storey block of 32 one-bed flats to chip away at its more than 10,000-long social housing waiting list. It aims to build and rent out the new council housing by 2027, subject to the project's design being finalised and approved.
