CHARITY STEPPED IN AND HELPED DAVID TO WIPE £4,500 ‘DEBT’
looking much brighter for David thanks to Green Doctor Kirsty
RECEIVING an incorrect energy bill for £4,500 nearly made an Ollerton man homeless.
For three years, the supplier refused to recognise it as its mistake until charity Groundwork Five Counties stepped in and managed to wipe the debt.
David, 73, who has severe health issues, was living in a caravan park.
When the site owner changed the gas meters three years ago, David was one of the first to have his installed. Since then he has been receiving enormous bills, with the first over £2,000.
He said: “I rang the energy supplier countless times, but they always claimed the bills must be correct, since it’s an automatic reading. I couldn't pay, and over the years it became a debt of £4,500. I got in arrears with my other bills too.
