Parking permit plans will kill us off, say traders

BUT SHERWOOD'S RESIDENTS ARE FED UP OF NOT BEING ABLE TO GET SPACES OUTSIDE THEIR HOMES
PLANS by Nottingham City Council to introduce parking permits on streets surrounding Sherwood’s shops will cause the death of small businesses, furious traders have said.
Earlier this month, the city council launched a consultation on introducing a new resident parking scheme and double yellow lines in the suburb.
The proposals, which would affect 18 streets, were put forward on November 12 due to parking being a “longstanding issue which has generated a lot of complaints from local residents’, the authority said.
However business owners believe the scheme would lead to less footfall, devastating already dwindling trade.
“Tt will 100 percent affect business)’ said Dawn Stanley, who runs the popular cob shop Nibbles.
“A lot of customers, especially builders, park on the side street so they can just run across and go. They're only there for two or three minutes. It’s hard enough for small businesses as it is.
“You may as well get a cob from somewhere else. You're not going to get a ticket for a £3 cob. It will affect businesses madly which is not very fair. It will affect everybody”
