RISES RANGE FROM 10P TO £5 AT NOTTINGHAM CASTLE CAR PARK

Parking charges going up at all city council sites - except one

NOTTINGHAM City Council has ended its freeze on car parking charges - with prices set to increase by as much as £5.

The Labour-run authority decided not to put up car park charges this year, saying as declining usage was a risk to its finances.

But now it says prices will go up in line with inflation from April although prices will remain frozen at the Broad Marsh Car Park.

Charges will rise for both off-street and on-street car parking, with Trinity Square and Nottingham Castle car parks the most expensive.

Although the council froze off-street parking this year, the last increase for on-street parking was last month.

The new increases range from 10p to £5 - the rise for parking up to 48 hours at Nottingham Castle car park.

The council manages six major car parks, and parking schemes in areas like Sherwood and The Meadows.
