IT HAS A FIVE-STAR RATING ON GOOGLE MAPS

- By GEORGE PALMER-SOADY

NOTTINGHAM city centre is full of various attractions to get your teeth into.

From bars and cafes to virtual golf and escape rooms, the city has no shortage of ways to fill up the days. And Mansfield Road, one of the city’s busiest and longest-stretching streets, is no exception. You'll find cafes, vape shops, hairdressers, restaurants and even an art gallery on the road, which stretches all the way from Arnold to the heart of the city centre.

But if you look a little closer beyond the shops and traffic, you could find Nottingham’s newest premier swimming pool. It’s rated at five stars and is complete with a drive-through takeaway and multi-storey car park - or so it says on Google Maps.

The “Mansfield Road Swimming Pool” was registered on the map two weeks ago and is listed as being an “outdoor swimming pool” with various amenities and “on-site services”.

Yet the few photos listed tell a very different story, showing what appears to be a group of friends sitting in a paddling pool in their garden.

So, what is the Mansfield Road Swimming Pool? I found no further clues when my curiosity led me to give the number listed on the page a call.

Expecting to be greeted with confusion, to my surprise, the voice answered: “Hello, Mansfield Road Swimming Pool and Barbecue, how can I help?”
