New kitchen part of revamp for 'olde worlde' village pub

A VILLAGE pub has temporarily closed for arevamp.

The makeover at the White Lion in Town Street, Bramcote, is part of wider plans to turn two disused garages into a new kitchen.

Tenant Sam Connelly, who runs the pub with business partner Ben Richardson, said the existing kitchen, measuring 9 square feet, cannot cope with demand.

He said: “The kitchen is made out of what used to be snug a long, long time ago. We are at capacity now, particularly in the summer with the extensive amount of space we've got in the beer garden. The kitchen just can't cope any more.

“We decided that the most efficient way to make more space would be to convert the garages in the car park. They have been storage for the pub for as long as I can remember.”
