RUDY'S PIZZA TEAM GO THE EXTRA MILE FOR HARRISON
A MUM has heaped praise on a Nottingham restaurant for treating her son, who has special needs, like a “human being”.
Amy Lee was impressed by the way staff at Rudy's Pizza spoke to 15-year-old Harrison, who often gets ignored because he has a brain injury.
Harrison, who was on an inset day from his special school in Long Eaton, was on a trip into the city centre with his grandma Wendy. After a visit to a cafe, the pair went for dinner at the pizzeria in Victoria Street.
Amy, a hairdresser who was at work at the time, said: "He's very young cognitively because he's got a brain injury and autism. The staff were just really good. They spoke to him, asking him what he'd like to eat. They didn't ignore him. Normally people just talk over him. They tend to ignore him and ask us what he wants.
"He's got a voice. He's quite capable of talking. A lot of people stare at him because he does a lot of stimming because he's autistic.
