MP presents petition bid to Parliament to make Market Place safer

AN MP has submitted a petition to make Ilkeston's Market Place safer to Parliament.

The police cordon in place following the murder of Samuel Wilson in December 2023
The petition, which has been set up by the family of murder victim Samuel Wilson, aims to put anti-vehicle measures in place to enhance public safety.
In 2023, Samuel Wilson was murdered in an attack aged 26. He was struck by a van along with two other men on the Market Place just after 2am on Saturday, December 16, and his killer, Zac Newman, was sentenced to life behind bars in 2024.
