CITY-BASED GAMES WORKSHOP MAKES £261M PROFIT - AND IS WORTH £5 BILLION

GAMES Workshop made a £261.3 million profit in "another exceptional year" for the Nottingham-based Warhammer maker.

The company behind the phenomenally popular Warhammer 40,000 miniatures, operating from its Lenton Lane business complex, boosted its already remarkable operating profits by £59.5 million compared to last year, according to an annual report published yesterday.

The company is worth more than five billion pounds and the overwhelming demand for its products - costly plastic models of fantasy soldiers and monsters that customers have to build themselves - can be hard to comprehend.

Unveiling the impressive numbers behind the business's most recent financial year, chairperson Mark Lam said: "A massive thank you to the Games Workshop team for delivering yet another exceptional year, and I look to our future as the new chair with pride and excitement. We saw record sales in our core business and a bumper year of licensing income, delivering the best financial results in our company's history."
