BUT HEAVYWEIGHT FOLGORE MEANS YOU'LL FOREGO PLENTY OF CASH TOO

MASERATI'S EV GRAN NO FLASH IN THE PAN

MASERATI is a brand with some of the best-looking sports coupes in the world, including the GranTurismo, around for nearly two decades.

But, now, the Italian firm is focusing on sustainability, introducing a new electric line-up of cars under the "Folgore" name.

Maserati's striking GranTurismo is the first to get the battery-powered treatment.

Here's what we thought.

WHAT'S NEW?

The car is new inside and out with some additional tweaks.

Its cabin has had a technology update 800V helps improve efficiency and should help reduce charging times and materials have been improved.

There is also a choice of a four-seater convertible called GranCabrio that can use electric too.

WHAT'S UNDER THE BONNET?

You'll find a 92.5kWh battery pack and dual electric motors, generating 751bhp and a massive 1,350Nm of torque.

This will get the car 0-60mph in 2.7 seconds with a 202mph top speed.

Maserati claims it can travel up to 280 miles on one charge and it's 270kW DC rapid-charging compatible. Thanks to 800V technology, 62 miles can be added in five minutes.
