ALANA'S DEVASTATED BOYFRIEND HAD TO HAVE A LEG AMPUTATED AFTER COLLISION
A MAN whose girlfriend was killed by a 4x4 driver in a narrow country lane, told how he has lost both his right leg “and the love of his life”.
Jordan Newton-Kay said he was planning to propose to his partner of four years, mum-of-one Alana Armstrong, on her next birthday, but was robbed of that by 23-year-old Keaton Muldoon’s actions on the night he caused her death.
Mr Newton-Kay, himself just 22 when the electric bike he and Miss Armstrong were on was struck by the father-of-one's Land Rover on the Derbyshire/Nottinghamshire border, killing her and resulting in him losing a leg, attended the sentencing hearing at Derby Crown Court with his family and in a wheelchair.
And in her victim impact statement, Kerry Hall, Miss Armstrong’s mother, said: “I have lost my baby. Every morning, noon and night she is on my mind and it absolutely breaks my heart that I will never get another chance to tell and show her how much I love her.”
Mr Newton-Kay, in his statement, said: “Her death has affected me in every way. We were together every day, we were planning to go to Amsterdam and I was planning on proposing to her on her birthday.
