Man in rooftop stand-off with armed police in town centre

A MAN was involved in a rooftop standoff with armed police yesterday.
Armed officers, firefighters and a negotiator were deployed to Queen Street, Southwell, at 11.52am.
Several ambulances were also at the scene, which police described as "an isolated incident with no wider risk to the public".
Parts of the town centre were cordoned off and four schools placed pupils in lockdown for an hour at lunchtime as a "precautionary measure".
It is understood the incident, which was ongoing as the Post went to press, involved a man stood on the roof of a property and refusing to come down.
