VALDO CALOCANE’S MOTHER AND BROTHER INCLUDED ON LIST
THE family of the Nottingham attacks killer Valdo Calocane will be among the key participants at the public inquiry into the tragedy.
The inquiry team has published an initial list of its “core participants”. Among them are Celeste and Elias Calocane, the killer's mother and brother.
It means they may be able to suggest lines of questioning and apply through their legal representatives to ask witnesses questions of witnesses during hearings.
Others on the list include the families of Barnaby Webber, Grace O’Malley-Kumar and Ian Coates, the victims killed in the early hours of June 13, 2023.
The 19-year-old University of Nottingham students and 65-year-old Huntingdon Academy caretaker will be at the front and centre of the inquiry when hearings begin in February.
Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer confirmed in February that there would be a statutory public inquiry into the attacks.
The statutory status means inquiry chair Her Honour Deborah Taylor has the legal power to compel any witness to give evidence.
