It's not Nando's but it's scaling the pecking order

They're also on the menu at new independent chicken shop Cuckoo Grill, where you can eat in, take away or have a delivery to the door.

But here everything is made in-house. The marinades and sauces are made from scratch, the potatoes for the fries are grown locally and fresh produce is supplied by the Fruit Basket, the Nottingham wholesaler which delivers to many of the city's top restaurants.

Since the food at Cuckoo Grill isn’t mass produced, you'd expect it to be more expensive than Nando's but that’s not the case. A full chicken is £12.99. At the chain, it'll set you back £16.95.

Chicken lovers will be cock-a-hoop with the quality and flavours, with a choice of a full chicken, half, wings, boneless thighs or mini fillets, with six very distinct tasting marinades.

Kingston is a fruity and spicy jerk, Persia has flavours of harissa and sumac, while Kashmir is an Indian inspired blend of mango and Kashmiri chilli.

Bangkok is a hot combo of sriracha, honey and ginger while Amalfi is reminiscent of the Italian coast, bringing Sicilian lemon, confit garlic and rosemary to the party.
