THE years-long saga over the fate of Nottingham’s old central library could soon come to an end.

The library on Angel Row closed in March 2020, leaving Nottingham without a city centre library until its replacement - part of the Broad Marsh regeneration - opened in November 2023.

The old building, the city’s main library for 50 years, was put up for sale by Nottingham City Council but an initial attempt to offload the building fell through.

Crosslane Residential Living wanted to buy and convert it into a seven to 15 storey accommodation block.

But the sale was eventually terminated in 2023 because the firm, which dissolved last year, failed to come up with the money.
