THE buyer of Nottingham's Broad Marsh site has been confirmed as Homes England in a "major milestone" for the redevelopment of the area.

- OLIVER PRIDMORE

Nottingham City Council has agreed the sale, which will include all land to the west of the Green Heart, NCP's Maid Marian Way Car Park, Severns House and the former college site on Maid Marian Way.

Homes England confirmed it was the buyer in an announcement yesterday afternoon.

The government agency, which provides affordable housing, says it will now "de-risk" by carrying out demolition work and then attract "private sector developers" to deliver the project, which provide around 1,000 homes, up to 20,000 square metres of retail, office and community space and create around 2,000 full-time jobs.

Homes England chief executive Eamonn Boylan said: "The acquisition of Broad Marsh is a major milestone in the city council's vision of regeneration for this area of Nottingham.
