HEAD TO ELVASTON CASTLE COUNTRY PARK IF YOU DARE - FOR SPOOKY HALLOWE'EN TRAIL

- By OSCAR FISHER

ALTON Towers has its award-winning annual Scarefest, but you don’t have to travel to Staffordshire for a “spinetingling” Hallowe'en experience.

Closer to Nottingham is Scream Time, which comes to Elvaston Castle Country park in south Derbyshire next month and promises zombies, ghosts and ghouls alongside a spooktacular trail.

The new event is the first of its kind at the castle. A trail will lead visitors through the grounds of the 19th-century Gothic revival mansion, beginning with an unwelcome meeting with the Grim Reaper.

Then you must tiptoe through the Boneyard, avoiding waking the dead, and into the Petrified Woods, where toil and trouble are brewing in the cauldron.

The trail continues into the house itself. Once inside, a giant coffin greets you, which can only mean one thing - vampires.
