Gate closure causing primary school drop-off 'mayhem', parents say
Nottingham Post
|February 18, 2026
THE closure of a gate at a Clifton primary school is causing traffic “mayhem at drop-off and pickup times, say parents.
One of Dovecote Primary School's access points - in Brinkhill Crescent - has been shut since pupils returned from the Christmas holidays.
This has caused “horrendous” congestion at the remaining entrance in Greencroft, says Jess Simpson, who has three children between the ages of seven and 11 at the school.
“It's causing a lot of stress. I have to sit and wait for the kids to come out to me,” said the 31-year-old. “It means my daughter's got a big responsibility to collect her two younger brothers. It's unacceptable what they're doing to us. It never used to be as bad as it is.”
Greencroft and other adjoining streets also have a parking permit system, leading to many car-driving parents swooping in and out to collect or drop off kids.
