Former cafe staff claim that they spent months 'chasing up' managers over their unpaid wages

FORMER staff at a Nottinghamshire café that has just closed say they spent months constantly "chasing up" their management over unpaid wages.

Late pay and an alleged lack of communication from managerial staff are among the other concerns raised by former employees of Stray's at The Ossington, in Newark.

Three staff members who previously worked at the family-run business have spoken anonymously to the Post to discuss their experiences.

A former employee who worked at the café over a four-month period last year said it had become commonplace for monthly wages to be paid in fractions without prior discussion or warning.

"On paydays, it would get to a point where we'd get 80% one week and the next we'd have 20%," they claimed.

"But we wouldn't be told about this until the day and it wasn't agreed with any staff beforehand.
