Faith-inspired macaron business bows out with thank-you to customers

A QUIRKY shop that sold multi-coloured French macarons has closed, with the owner saying "we gave it our very best".

Allena Marlow set up Macaron Marlo in 2016 after "praying to God".
She had been made redundant from her job at Specsavers' head office and fancied a career change.
Guided by her faith, she took up baking - despite zero experience and no training.
The business moved into a store in Carlton Road, Hockley, in 2022, with its colourful display of macarons in the window attracting shoppers. But the store closed earlier this month with a thank-you to customers.
