LEADER SAYS WORK NEEDS TO BE DONE SOON

- By JOSHUA HARTLEY

Developer must tidy up or face council action

THE builder of a new housing development has been told to tidy up the estate and fix a rat problem.

Housebuilder Fairgrove started converting the former Hardy's and Hansons brewery in Kimberley into housing in 2015, aiming to create high-quality homes inside the old kiln stores, tower and Grade II-listed maltings.

But frustrated residents slammed the developer over problems with their homes in 2023 and 2024, with some even publicly warning prospective buyers to stay away.

In recent times, progress has made been made, but after concerns were raised over the sale of the site’s unfinished tower, the leader of Broxtowe Borough Council visited the former brewery on Friday.
