Council's homes survey in critical phase

NOTTINGHAM City Council is entering a “crucial” period of surveying its housing after a report found nearly half its homes had not been checked for more than a decade.

The Labour-run authority had one of the worst ratings possible by the Regulator of Social Housing (RSH) in January after a report found a large proportion of its housing had not been checked for over 10 years.

The RSH report said: “We have limited assurance that Nottingham City Council has an accurate, up-to-date, and evidenced understanding of its stock quality and decency as it has not surveyed almost 40% of its homes for more than ten years.

“We also found limited oversight by Nottingham City Council of the quality of its homes.

“This is a serious failing for Nottingham City Council.
