LOCALS CALL IT 'A PARTY PLACE' AND SAY PARKING CAN BE 'CHAOTIC'
RESIDENTS living near a small Beeston community centre say the spot can be used like a “party place” with “horrendous” traffic as one councillor seeks to make changes.
Noise from an event until around 11pm on Sunday night concerned residents near Beeston Rylands Community Centre in Leyton Crescent.
The centre is on Leyton Crescent Recreation Ground and playing fields.
In a Facebook community group post on Sunday evening, one resident said the community centre was being “used like a nightclub” with music heard from neighbouring properties.
Broxtowe Borough Councillor, Teresa Cullen (Brox Alliance), who represents the area on Nottinghamshire County Council, confirmed to the Local Democracy Reporting Service that the centre had been hired out by a local person for a “get together”.
Albert Morris, 81, who lives near the centre, said that he could hear loud music around 10pm when he was going to bed.
“Tt is being used like a hotel. It’s like a party place - anybody can go in there,” he added.
Another nearby resident, who asked not to be named, said: “[I want to see] them bring the volume down because it's loud - you can hear it massively”
