FORMER AUTHORITY LEADER SAYS THERE'S AN 'AWFUL LOT OF WEEDS'

- By JOE LOCKER Local Democracy Reporter

A COUNCILLOR has questioned whether Nottingham City Council can keep up with the maintenance of a new city park after seeing "an awful lot of weeds" growing in the area.

Nottingham’s Green Heart opened in September 2024 as part of the redevelopment of the former Broadmarsh Centre.

The park features plants and trees, as well as marshland and a pond.

Planters also line the side of Middle Hill, and within a children's play area in Collin Street, following the redevelopment of the bus station.

However former city council leader, Dales ward councillor David Mellen, said he has concerns over the continued maintenance of the area around the half-demolished shopping centre.
