FAMILIES with seriously ill children were taken to Lapland - and the youngsters said meeting Santa was “the best day ever”.

For more than 30 years, the Nottingham-based When You Wish Upon a Star charity has given terminally-ill children and their families a once-in-a-lifetime chance to meet Santa Claus.

This time, around 30 families visited a magical forest and enjoyed a firework display with their families.

After a hot dinner, they met Santa - and each child received an early present.
