Cancer dad is staying positive with a mile a day

“IT’S such a big question. For someone to put a sell-by date on you.” These are the words of Lee Dilks, a Nottingham father of five, diagnosed with incurable lung cancer last year.

The “big question” he’s avoiding? How much longer doctors expect the 48-year-old to survive.

“I think that will put a massive toll on life,” he said. “I believe in having a positive mindset and think-ing.

“I'm dealing with it. I haven't shed a tear. I strongly believe that a positive mind and thinking can help as much as treatment.”

Lee received his diagnosis in November after weeks of battling what he thought was pneumonia.

The former landscape gardener, from Bestwood, was in hospital over Christmas, where it was “touch and go”.
