Businesses are glad to get back to normal after roadworks and sinkhole

Nottingham Post

WITH the finishing touches on Maid Marian Way's transformation out of the way, and the “complex” sinkhole on Upper Parliament Street finally repaired, city centre businesses can now breathe a sigh of relief after months of a lack of trade.

- By LOUIS CORBETT

The construction works at the Maid Marian Way roundabout to turn it into a T-junction concluded on August 28, after more than a year of gridlocked traffic and partially closed streets.

These works have had a major impact on the business owners of Upper Parliament Street, who previously told the Post that their trade had been “falling off the side of a cliff”.

In addition to Maid Marian Way's transformation, the vendors were also hit with a road closure on Upper Parliament Street that took almost eight weeks to fix due to a “complex” sinkhole that opened up under a pedestrian crossing on July 23.
