Better lighting and more police patrols to make city skatepark safer at night

IMPROVED lighting and more police patrols are planned for part of the redeveloped Broad Marsh area to make it safer.

A number of incidents have happened in and around the Sussex Street skatepark, under a tram bridge and close to Nottingham College and the entrance to the City of Caves.
They include the murder of 24-year-old Jack Edwards when two teenagers threw a brick at his head in December 2023.
And, on September 18, hundreds gathered there for an unauthorised street party which went on until 2am when it was closed by police.
A senior Nottingham city councillor says improvements to the area are planned to make it safer.
