Work set to start to revamp historic building for cultural regeneration

WORK will begin soon on a major project to redevelop Barnstaple’s Bridge Chambers into an arts and culture destination for the town.
The contract has now been awarded for the historic building's refurbishment and is part of £3million funding for the arts secured from Arts Council England’s Cultural Development Fund. The project, a collaboration between The Bridge Trust and North Devon Council, is a major part of the Flourishing Barnstaple programme.
The refurbishment will see the historic listed building revitalised into a vibrant cultural hub, featuring a new performance space for arts and cultural events, as well as an accessible terrace.
