New strategy aims to address challenges of housing

NORTH Devon Council has formally adopted a new housing strategy aimed at addressing some of the region’s most pressing housing challenges, including rising demand, homelessness and the quality of existing homes.

The decision was made at a meeting of the council's strategy and resources committee on May 12, following a six-week public consultation held in February and March.

Councillors approved the strategy, which will serve as a roadmap for delivering housing services and allocating resources more effectively.

The new strategy is built around three central themes: preventing homelessness, increasing the supply of new affordable homes, and improving the condition and safety of existing housing stock.
