Venture funding up 17% last week; deal volume picks up too

Private equity and venture capital funding rose last week from the preceding week buoyed by a big-ticket transaction

In the week's largest transaction by value, solar panel maker Waaree Energies Ltd raised nearly $121 million (about 1,003 crore) in a funding round led by ValueQuest Capital. Waaree had raised a similar sum in a previous round from al clutch of investors including family offices and high-networth individuals (HNIS). The new deal will support a 6 GW capacity expansion for Waaree to its existing 12 GW capacity.

In total, companies raised about $217 million last week, a 17% rise from the previous week's $186 million.
