Merc India sales of top-end cars surge 107% in March qtr

Stuttgart-based luxury car manufacturer Mercedes Benz India witnessed 107% growth in top-end vehicle sales in the January-March period.
NEW DELHI: According to the company over 1,700 units, priced at ₹1.5 crore or more were sold, grossing over ₹3,000 crore till May, thus reinforcing its strategy to focus on segments generating high stable returns.
At present, one of every four cars sold in India by the German auto major is a top-end vehicle, up from 12% in 2018 and 22% in 2022. Globally, it sold 92,000 units of top-end models out of an overall sale of over 500,000 vehicles in Q1 of 2023.
This segment includes the GLS, S-Class, GLE Coupe, E63, EQS, S-Class Maybach, GLS Maybach, EQS and AMG G 63.
