Deal divergence PE-VC deals dip, M&A value surges

Private equity and venture capital deal activity declined for a second straight week, even as Tata Motors' acquisition of Italian truck and bus maker Iveco lifted the cumulative value of mergers and acquisitions (M&A), data compiled by VCCircle showed.

In the five-day period through August 1, the number of PE/VC deals fell to 19, with companies raising an aggregate $152 million (₹1,325 crore), the lowest in three months. Last week, 24 firms had raised $215 million. There were no big-ticket transactions above $100 million, which weighed on the overall amount raised by companies.
