Bosch, Endurance say they are ready for ABS mandate
Mint Kolkata
|November 20, 2025
Bosch Ltd and Endurance Technologies Ltd, two of India's largest manufacturers of anti-lock braking systems (ABS) told investors that they will be able to meet a demand surge for such brakes if the government goes ahead with a plan to make them mandatory for all two-wheelers.
The stance taken by the ABS makers is in direct contrast to claims of two wheeler majors conveyed to the government that the domestic industry will be unable to meet demand for the systems if the mandate is implemented from January.
Currently, only two wheelers with engine capacity above 125cc are required to have ABS. These accounted for 16% of total 19 million sales in the financial year 2025. Bosch and Endurance together hold 60-70% of ABS market share in India, according to research and advisory firm Kotak Institutional Equities.
Bosch and Endurance control 60-70% of India’s ABS market, and Endurance is expanding new lines for another 2.4 mn units.
