Rural-urban consumption gap shrinks in 2023-24

The monthly per capita consumption expenditure rose to ₹4,122 in rural areas and ₹6,996 in urban areas
The average monthly per capita consumption expenditure (MPCE) in India saw significant growth in 2023-24, fuelled by higher spending across urban and rural households and a narrowing consumption gap between the two, according to data released by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) on Friday.
