Putin Calls the Conversation 'Frank and Meaningful'

WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump held an extended phone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday, as part of a renewed effort by the White House to bring about a ceasefire in the ongoing war in Ukraine.
The call, which lasted over two hours, comes amid what administration officials describe as Trump's mounting frustration with the prolonged conflict.
Following the call, Putin said Russia remains ready to pursue a peaceful resolution to the war. He described the discussion with Trump as "frank and meaningful," adding that compromises would be necessary from both Russia and Ukraine to reach an agreement.
The White House has not yet released a formal readout of the conversation.
