Cyprus visit slated for June 15-16 before G7
-
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will embark on a three-nation tour beginning Sunday, including a visit to Canada, where he will attend the G7 Summit, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said on Saturday.
The Prime Minister's visit to Canada to attend the G7 Summit comes at a time when the government is looking to explore pathways to reset ties between New Delhi and Ottawa. The Prime Minister will also visit the Mediterranean countries Cyprus and Croatia.
The foreign tour, particularly the Canada visit, holds significance as it marks PM Modi's first overseas trip since India launched anti-terror Operation Sindoor against Pakistan, and his first visit to Canada since diplomatic ties between New Delhi and Ottawa deteriorated over the Khalistani issue.
In the second leg of the tour, at the invitation of Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, the Prime Minister will visit Kananaskis, Canada, on June 16-17 to participate in the G7 Summit. During the summit, the Prime Minister will present India's stance on key global issues, including energy security, technology, and innovation, the ministry added.
The Prime Minister will also visit the Mediterranean countries Cyprus and Croatia. "This will be the first ever visit by an Indian prime minister to Croatia, marking an important milestone in the bilateral relationship," the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said.
