A Bombardier CRJ200 aircraft operated by Nepalese airliner Saurya Airlines crashed shortly after takeoff from Tribhuvan International Airport on Wednesday, resulting in the deaths of 18 people, including a child. The sole survivor, Captain Manish Ratna Shakya, is in critical condition, receiving treatment for severe injuries.
The aircraft, carrying 19 individuals—comprising two crew members and technical staff of the airline—was en route to Pokhara International Airport for regular maintenance service when it crashed at 11:11 am local time. According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal, the plane veered off to the right and crashed on the east side of the runway shortly after takeoff from runway 02.
