'Mutual funds bet big on select stocks amid weak equity returns'

Mutual funds are showing a sharp concentration in their investment strategies this year, with half of all equity inflows in 2025 reportedly directed towards just 19 stocks, including Eternal Ltd, Swiggy, State Bank of India, and Reliance Industries.

Of the total ₹2.67 lakh crore invested in equity schemes so far in 2025, 25% of inflows were concentrated in only six stocks, while 50% went into just 19. The top recipients were Infosys (5% of total inflows), Axis Bank (4%), Eternal Ltd (4%), SBI (4%), Swiggy Ltd (4%), and Asian Paints (3%). Together, these six counters attracted about ₹67,000 crore of mutual fund investments, The Economic Times reported, citing a recent analysis by Elara Securities.
