JOHANNESBURG: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday called for a comprehensive reassessment of global development standards as he introduced a set of new initiatives aimed at strengthening skills, healthcare coordination, traditional knowledge systems, and international action against the drug-terror nexus.

Speaking at the opening session of the G20 Leaders Meeting, being held in Africa for the first time, Modi said prevailing economic and developmental models have deprived large populations of essential resources and pushed nature to the brink of excessive exploitation, challenges that he noted are sharply felt across the African continent.
