'India's Adman' Piyush Pandey dies at 70

Piyush Pandey, widely regarded as "India's Adman" for his transformative contributions to the Indian advertising industry, passed away on Friday morning following an illness.

The Jaipurborn creative maestro, who made Hindi mainstream in advertising and infused campaigns with humor and relatability, was 70.
Pandey's work spanned iconic campaigns for brands such as Cadbury's, with the memorable slogan 'Asli Swaad Zindagi Ka, Fevicol's 'Yeh Fevicol Ka Jod Hai, Tutega Nahi, and the political slogan 'Abki Baar, Modi Sarkaar. He joined Ogilvy India in the early 1980s and remained with the firm for more than four decades, stepping down as executive chairman in 2023 before assuming an advisory role. His creations continue to be cited as landmarks in Indian advertising.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to Pandey on X, stating, "Shri Piyush Pandey Ji was admired for his creativity. He made a monumental contribution to the world of advertising and communications." The Prime Minister added, "I will fondly cherish our interactions over the years.

My thoughts are with his family and admirers. Om Shanti." Union Ministers Nirmala Sitharaman and Piyush Goyal also expressed condolences.
