Findings expected in three months

CAG report on Delhi liquor policy sent to PAC

The Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report on the regulation and supply of liquor in Delhi has been referred to the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) for further examination, Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta announced on Thursday. The panel is expected to present its findings within three months.

The report, which was tabled in the Delhi Assembly on February 25, highlighted significant irregularities in the implementation of the excise policy by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government. "Members, as is evident, the CAG's 'Performance Audit Report on Regulation and Supply of Liquor in Delhi' has brought out grave irregularities in the implementation of the excise policy in Delhi by the AAP government. The report details how the public exchequer suffered huge losses while private firms profited illegally at the expense of the government," Gupta said.

As per parliamentary procedure, the PAC will closely examine the report and is required to submit its conclusions within three months, he added.

During discussions on the report in the Assembly, Delhi minister Kapil Mishra criticised the AAP's handling of the policy.
