Private schools nationwide have rallied behind Sonny Angara, expressing strong support for his continued tenure as secretary of the Department of Education (DepEd).
The backing comes after President Marcos requested courtesy resignations from all Cabinet members.
The Coordinating Council of Private Educational Associations (COCOPEA), widely recognized as the unifying voice of private education in the country, led the call to retain Angara.
In an official statement issued on Monday, May 26, COCOPEA highlighted Angara's “deep commitment to education reform, public-private collaboration, and evidence-based policymaking.”
Angara was appointed DepEd secretary in July 2024, following the resignation of Vice President Sara Duterte from the position.
