Palace says Imee’s ‘itim’ ad campaign more suited to describe Duterte administration
Manila Bulletin
|April 16, 2025
Malacañang lashed at Sen. Imee Marcos' latest campaign advertisement, which showed her being endorsed by Vice President Sara Duterte, while trying to depict the country’s current situation as “black”, and charged back by saying that it was more suited to describe the administration of former president Rodrigo Duterte.
Citing statistics on poverty incidence and reports on crimes, Palace Press Officer and Communications Undersecretary Claire Castro labeled Imee Marcos’ campaign ad as fake news, stressing that hunger, crimes, and injustice were more prevalent during the previous administration than the current government.
She stressed that the Philippines under President Marcos was "getting brighter".
"You just said it is recent. Ang akala ay 2022 campaign ads 'to dahil mas na-describe ang kapanahunan, ang nakaraang administrasyon doon sa nasabing campaign ads (I thought it was a 2022 campaign ad because it describes more of the time of the previous administration)," Castro said in a Palace briefing on Tuesday, April 15.

Make access to Al a human right
We don't mint new human rights lightly. But we should add one now: the right to access capable, safe AI. Around the world, language is the gateway to opportunity; AI is a universal language machine that translates, tutors, summarizes, designs, and reasons across barriers of literacy, disability, and geography. When a technology is this general and transformative, withholding it isn't neutral-it sorts people into those who can participate fully in education, the economy, civic life, and those who can't.
