Netizens urged to be responsible in sharing calamity-related posts

The Philippine National Police (PNP) urged netizens and content creators to be responsible in posting and sharing photos and videos on social media, particularly, in relation to the effects of typhoon “Uwan”.
Acting PNP chief Lt. Gen. Jose Melencio Nartatez, Jr. also urged netizens to verify first the photos and videos before sharing following the reposting of a photo of an elderly couple purportedly waiting to be rescued on social media.
The photo was claimed to be a result of the widespread flooding caused by typhoon Tino, and later super typhoon “Uwan”.
It turned out that the photo was taken in Mexico.
