Meta was quick in taking down poll-related ‘fake news’ - DICT

Multi-social media platform operator Meta significantly sped up the removal of election-related fake news following government pressure for it to take quick action against disinformation, according to the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT).
Meta, parent firm of social media giants Facebook and Instagram, reportedly took down disinformation and other fake news with an hour after these were posted, which was a marked improvement from previous timelines, according to the Cybercrime Investigation Office of the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC), an attached agency under the DICT.
