Marvel's most wanted: A review of 'Thunderbolts'

The latest entry from Marvel Studios is not just another Avengers-adjacent action flick; it’s the ensemble of the ragtag band of misfits.

"Thunderbolts" dares to scale things down — and dig deeper. Directed by Jake Schreier, the film rallies a lineup of MCU antiheroes with Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh), Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan), John Walker (Wyatt Russell), Red Guardian (David Harbour), Ghost (Hannah John-Kamen), and Taskmaster (Olga Kurylenko), all of whom are under the morally grey leadership of Julia Louis-Dreyfus' Valentina Allegra de Fontaine.

While it seems like Marvel's response to "The Suicide Squad," it feels more like a blend of "The Breakfast Club" and "The Dirty Dozen," infused with a significant touch of A24-style therapy.
