Marcos, Duterte call on Filipinos to defend freedom

President Marcos and Vice President Sara Duterte, in separate messages, rallied Filipinos to defend the country's freedom.

Marcos called on Filipinos to uphold their rights and freedoms through excellence, patriotism, and collective service to the nation when he led the celebration of the 127th anniversary of the proclamation of Philippine independence today, June 12.

In his message, the President stressed that independence is not just a historical milestone, but a continuing responsibility that calls for vigilance against threats to democratic rights.

“We must value our heritage by striving for excellence in preserving our rights and freedoms, ensuring that they are used solely for the improvement and protection of our citizenry,” he said. “So, let us continue to bear the vigor of our ancestors as we defend our nation against those who seek to diminish the strength of our people.”
