Ipinagdiriwang ang Agosto bilang Buwan ng Wika, at ngayong Agosto 19, ginugunita ang kaarawan ni Pangulong Manuel Luis Quezon na kinikilalang tagapagtaguyod ng Filipino bilang Wikang Pambansa.

Napapanahong tunghayan natin ang mga ginagawa ng Japan, France, at South Korea, mga modelo ng bansa na kung saan, marubdob ang nasyonalismo ng mga mamamayan. Dahil dito, laganap ang paggamit nila ng sariling wika sa lahat ng aspeto ng pamumuhay sa kabila ng mga impluwensiya ng banyaga.
Ang bansang Hapon ay isang pangunahing modelo sa pagsulong ng diplomasya ng pang-kultural sa pamamagitan ng edukasyong pang-wika, at pagpapaunlad ng pagkakaunawaang pang-kultura. Ang kanilang Kagawaran ng Ugnayang Panlabas ay nagtataguyod ng edukasyong pang-wika sa iba't ibang paraan, tulad ng pagpapadala ng mga espesyalista sa wika, pagbibigay ng pagsasanay sa mga guro, at paghahanda ng mga lathalain sa pagtuturo ng kanilang wika.
