ICC OKs Duterte request to defer interim release ruling

The International Criminal Court's (ICC) Pre-Trial Chamber I (PTC I) granted former President Rodrigo Duterte's request to defer the adjudication on his interim release petition.

The decision was made by the majority of the judges, with Judge María del Socorro Flores Liera dissenting.

In a filing made public on July 23, signed by Presiding Judge Julia Antoanella Motoc and Judge Reine Adélaïde Sophie Alapini-Gansou, said that the PTC I "defers the issuance of a decision on the Interim Release Request until further action is undertaken by the Defence on the matter, or until when the Chamber will deem it appropriate."
